Shipping LED and lighting from Zhongshan to the UAE

LED lamps, fittings and chandeliers from Guzhen in Zhongshan are collected to our Guangzhou warehouse, consolidated and shipped from Nansha, typically 18–30 days door to door to the UAE. As of November 2026 containers land at Khor Fakkan and move inland under customs seal. Lighting is a regulated product in the UAE, so an ECAS certificate from MOIAT must be in place before clearance, on top of 5% duty on the CIF value and 5% VAT.

How it works

  1. Product and approval checkSend us the model list; we check ECAS status and which items contain batteries before you order.
  2. Pickup in GuzhenOur truck collects from each factory or showroom to our Guangzhou warehouse; a full container loaded at the factory can also go by barge to Nansha.
  3. Count, check and consolidateCartons are counted and photographed, fragile crates checked, and orders from several suppliers go into one container.
  4. Export at NanshaThe export declaration is filed and the sealed container sails from Nansha.
  5. Khor Fakkan and bonded truckAs of November 2026 the vessel discharges at Khor Fakkan and the container moves inland under customs seal.
  6. Clearance and deliveryThe broker clears the goods with the customs of your emirate, duty and VAT are settled and the goods are delivered.

Buying in Guzhen

Guzhen, on the north-west edge of Zhongshan, is known as China's lighting capital: lighting makes up most of the town's industrial output, and the Guzhen International Lighting Fair has been held twice a year since 1982. Buyers often order from several showrooms in one visit, mixing LED panels, downlights, strips, decorative fittings and chandeliers. We collect from each supplier, check the cartons against the packing list and ship everything under one bill of lading. Ask every supplier to print the model number on each carton, because the same model numbers must appear on the invoice and on the ECAS certificate.

ECAS, RoHS and energy labels

In the UAE, lighting products sit within MOIAT's regulated product scope, alongside low voltage electrical products, restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) and energy efficiency labelling. Regulated products need an ECAS certificate of conformity, issued through approved conformity bodies for specific models against UAE technical regulations. Start early, because the factory's test reports must match your exact models, drivers and wattages. Smart lights with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth also need TDRA type approval. Without the right certificate, customs can hold the cargo at the port while storage charges build up.

Packing, batteries and duty

Glass shades and chandeliers need individual cartons with foam inserts, and heavy fittings go in wooden crates that are ISPM 15 treated and marked. Solar lights, emergency lights and rechargeable lamps contain lithium batteries, which are Class 9 dangerous goods at sea: they need an SDS, a UN38.3 summary, a DG declaration and carrier acceptance, which several lines restricted for Gulf ports in 2026. On arrival, lighting usually pays 5% customs duty on the CIF value and 5% VAT on CIF plus duty, confirmed by the broker from the 12-digit HS code. Invoices of AED 10,000 or more need MOFA attestation.

Common mistakes

Shipping before the ECAS certificate is issued is the most expensive mistake. Others are certificates that cover a different model or driver from the one shipped, undeclared batteries in solar and emergency lights, and invoices that just say lights or LED accessories instead of each model with wattage, quantity and unit price. Mixed orders from many showrooms often miss the warehouse cut-off, so set one delivery date for all suppliers. Finally, never put a well-known brand's name or logo on lamps or boxes without authorisation: China Customs checks exports for counterfeits and the UAE seizes them.
