FCL (full container load)
A shipment where one shipper uses a whole container, sealed at origin and delivered to one consignee.
In four languages
With FCL you book an entire container, such as a 20GP, 40GP or 40HQ, and pay per container regardless of how full it is. The supplier or forwarder loads it, the container is sealed in China, and it normally stays sealed until customs or the consignee opens it at destination. FCL suits buyers with enough cargo to fill most of a box, fragile goods that should not be handled at a shared warehouse, or anyone who wants faster release at the destination port. Example: a furniture importer in Dubai fills a 40HQ, which holds about 65 to 68 CBM of cartons, at a factory in Foshan. The sealed container is discharged at Khor Fakkan, moved by bonded truck to Jebel Ali, cleared, delivered to the warehouse, and the empty is returned within the free time.
Questions
When is FCL better than LCL?
FCL usually makes sense when your cargo fills a large part of a container, or when you want fewer handlings and a simpler release. Our team can compare both options for your volume.
Can I combine goods from several suppliers in one FCL?
Yes. The goods can be collected into a warehouse in China, checked and loaded together into one container under one booking.
